8. ABERDEENSHOWCASE REVEALSGAME-CHANGING TECHNOLOGIES On5March, theTechnologyShowcase was held inAberdeen. It provided aunique opportunity for industry innovators todiscuss the latest technological development opportunities on the UKContinental Shelf.Thenearly400 attendees at theevent, organisedby ITF inpartnershipwithOil&GasUK, were alsogiven the chance toview cutting-edge innovations from the research anddevelopment community. Thepresentations exploredenhancedoil recovery, increasedoil recovery,materials and corrosion, anddigitalmonitoring for productionefficiency and integrity. Seep13 fora featureonadvances in R&D through collaborationbetween industryandacademiaandp18 tofind outmoreabout theentrepreneurial andproductdevelopment strategies of companieswithin the supply chain.

FABRICATORSDIRECTORYPROMOTESUK-WIDECAPABILITIES The UKOffshoreOil andGas FabricatorsDirectory2014 was launchedon15 January at an event attendedby fabricators,major contractors, operators and representatives from the Department of Energy&ClimateChange.Thepublication showcases fabricationyards around theUKwhichdesign andbuildmajor facilities forbothdomestic and international energymarkets, and alignswith theobjectives of theOil andGas Industrial Strategy (see story above) toencouragegrowthof thedomestic supply chain.Thedirectory contains comprehensive and fullyverified information about 12 fabricators operating at 18 locations acrossBritain. OonaghWerngren,Oil&GasUK’s operations director, says: “As a result of the substantial investment inmajorprojects on theUKContinental Shelf in2013, there is currently significant demand for fabrication services, especially those associatedwith fields developed as subsea tiebacks toexistingproductionplatforms.” Thedirectory isavailable todownloadat www.oilandgasuk.co.uk/knowledgecentre/fabrication.cfm.
