Nursing Preparation Study Guide

Revising This is the step where authors will revise their work and perfect their rough draft written in the writing stage. Many authors will follow the A.R.R.R approach to improve their work: • Add – Does your story or essay make since? Have you connected all your main ideas together? Does the reader have enough background so that your story makes sense? • Rearrange – Does your writing flow nicely? Should it be re-arranged? Does it follow a chronological or other logical order? • Remove – Did you provide any unnecessary or unsupported details? Could you remove anything, and your piece still make sense? • Replace – Did you say things in the best way possible? Could you be more concise with your writing? Editing Some people will edit their own work and others will seek someone else to edit their work for them. Now that your writing is arranged in the correct order with no new pieces being added or old ones being deleted it’s time to check for: clarity, grammar, spelling, and punctuation. If time permits you might find yourself editing your work more than once to make it as error free as possible. Publishing Your piece of writing is now complete. It is error free and presents a clear message to the readers that they can understand. It is time to distribute your work for others to read.
