Kim Boehm Finally, thank you over and over to the CTC crew who have been so patient and kind in helping my mom up and down the ramp this past year in a wheelchair! It wasn’t until that first doctor’s appointment for a follow-up visit that I realized the importance of checking the tide tables before making doctors’ appointments. Not one complaint from the crew that morning, but I’ll remember that when scheduling future appointments! Thank you for all you do: it’s what makes Chebeague so special! Lynda Hill Oderda and Family It seems like just a couple of weeks ago that I received a call telling me that our mom, Joan Deming, had fallen and was being taken to Maine Medical for evaluation the night before we began driving from Utah to Maine for our summer stay. However, it was actually five months ago, and I didn’t want to miss one more deadline for the Council Calendar in order to thank all the people who continue to care for our mom when we’re not around! First, thanks to the folks on the front line at Island Commons—Amy Rich, who works diligently to keep it open; Vicki Todd, who has overseen and dealt with the day-to-day caregiving issues for the past few years; and the staff, who have the most challenging task of providing 24-hour care to the residents! I’ve worked in long term care for decades, so I know how much it takes to provide the type of home life my mother enjoys at The Commons. No place that I’ve ever worked consistently provides the loving and safe environment that you do! Second (or first…it’s a tie), our heartfelt thanks to Ginny Ballard for being on call/present to assess and treat the residents of The Commons. She always goes above and beyond what many providers are willing to do for their patients. Thank you for staying with mom and being her advocate in the emergency room that night, easing her fears, and after her hip surgery. It’s one of the most important roles that family members have, and we appreciate your standing in for us when we couldn’t be there! Third, thanks as always to the Island Rescue team! You’ve transported our mommore than once on her way to Maine Medical over the past 10 years, and we sincerely appreciate each and every rescue.
