SELF SERVE DRINKS AND ICE MACHINE PURPOSE OF THE TRAINING EXERCISE: To ensure that team members know how to clean the self -serve machines effectively. TRAINING AIDS:  Small tap brush  Company approved sanitiser and paper roll  Jug of hot soapy manual pot wash detergent  PPE-rubber gloves or white disposable gloves and apron TRAINING METHOD: This is a practical training exercise. The trainer should demonstrate how to clean the soft drinks, unlimited self serve and ice machines to the group whilst referring to these training notes.

ASK QUESTION TO GROUP: Why should we clean the unlimited self serve machine daily? CONFIRM CORRECT ANSWER:  To ensure no cross contamination  Keep it pest free  To prevent the growth of moulds on and inside the machine causing

contamination of the ice, this can lead to illness.  Our guests may contaminate the machine and ice  Potential risk of prosecution.

EXPLAIN TO THE GROUP: In order to prevent cross contamination of bacteria and viruses by the users of this equipment it is important that these drink dispensers are kept immaculately clean and sanitised regularly. Fruit flies are attracted to sticky substances and can be a problem if the cleaning is not adequate.

Self Serve Drinks Dispensers

EXPLAIN TO THE TEAM: There are 4 areas to the self serve drinks dispense that need cleaning daily  Handles, Taps and Fonts  The Housing unit  Drainage cleaning

Handles, Taps and Fonts cleaning routine  The taps, fonts and handles must be cleaned and sanitised every 4 hours at least, or more often if it is being over used or you have a build up of slime/mould  Use multi- purpose detergent and clean with a green cloth. Apply sanitiser spray and a paper towel or a disposable sanitised wipe  Spray the fonts and handles with sanitiser solution leave for 1 minute contact time  Wipe over with paper roll  Clean the nozzle daily by inserting a small sanitised tap brush into the nozzle tube.  Remove the drip tray empty and wash with hot soapy manual pot wash detergent, rinse with clean fresh water Housing Unit  Remove the metal facing unit below the dispensing taps daily.  Clean all of the sides, rims and inside the unit using detergent followed by sanitiser spray as above  Remove the drip tray empty and wash with hot soapy manual pot wash detergent, rinse with clean fresh water  Sanitise all stainless steel surfaces and use hot soapy manual pot wash detergent to clean the housing unit base daily or more often if required
