THE VEGETABLE PEELER

PURPOSE OF THE TRAINING EXERCISE: To ensure the team members understand the importance of keeping the vegetable peeler clean. TRAINING AIDS:  Company approved manual pot wash detergent, multi-purpose detergent and sanitiser  Clean disposable yellow cloth or paper towels and green scourers

TRAINING METHOD: This is a practical training exercise. The trainer should demonstrate how to clean the vegetable peeler to the group whilst referring to these training notes

ASK QUESTION TO GROUP: Why is it important to clean the vegetable peeler mixer after every use? CONFIRM CORRECT ANSWER:

 Reduce the risk of cross contamination  To ensure vegetables are peeled correctly

 To ensure the peeler works effectively  Reduce break down and call out charges  It is a legal requirement to keep all food equipment clean.

How to clean the Vegetable Peeler:

Ensure machine is switched off and the water is isolated before cleaning starts

Cleaning the Peel Trap  Remove the peel trap and empty any contents into suitable waste bin and wash the trap in a sink of hot soapy manual pot wash detergent  Remove any waste from the peel trap holder and thoroughly clean with sanitiser and yellow cloth or scourers

Cleaning the Abrasive Disc  Disconnect the water supply  Loosen the two clamp handles
