Why has this toolkit been developed?
Targets: whether it’s controlling costs, beating budgets, managing the gap, mystery guest or the latest training audit your bonus often depends on how well you perform - however, it is often your Team that you rely on to ensure your scores are high and the targets are met. Moreover, since they do not have a bonus to look forward to at the end of the year, it can often seem hard to motivate them to upsell to a large glass of wine or empty the ashtrays every 20 minutes…. …..this is where this toolkit could help!
So what is it? This toolkit: Is a “piggybank” of ideas on how to incentivise your Team. Includes suggestions on improving Sales, Mystery Guest, Standards, and Motivation. Works alongside central promotions or incentives.
Provides information on how, why and when to run the different schemes/competitions. Explains the expected benefits and costs (including any tax implications) for each scheme. Suggests possible prizes and has hard copies of documents that you may need to use. Includes ideas gathered from LHM/EGMs from the Locals Channel and other brands. Is an evolving document – if you have any other ideas, or have tried an incentive mentioned, please contact your RBM or RDM to pass on your feedback. This toolkit is NOT: An exhaustive list – if you have other ideas then you do not have to stop using them – but please pass them on to other managers if they work! A central promotion/marketing activity – these ideas are for YOU to initiate and for YOU to implement when/if YOU want to. The easy answer to all your problems – the schemes may demand some extra work on your behalf, but any admin/time is kept to a minimum and the benefits ought to outweigh the increase in effort required.
