Using the Pressure Washer

 Ensure task is performed at an appropriate time to reduce risk of trips/slips to guests and team members  Barrier off area to be cleaned if practical to prevent unauthorised access  Perform visual user check on the plug, wire and unit to establish no damage or exposed wires. Machine should never be used if damage spotted  Any repairs to be performed by a company approved contractor  Check for PAT sticker to ascertain that it is still in date (3 years). Machine should not be used outside of this testing date  Plug the unit into the power source, ensuring that the socket is a safe distance (minimum 10m) away from the area to be jet washed  Connect to water source - ensuring hosepipe and cables are not going to create a tripping hazard  Put on safety goggles – small stones and grit can be flicked up during cleaning.  Turn on machine  Ensure nozzle is pointing away from body and other persons before pulling trigger  Washer is never to be used on yourself/other persons – it can inject water under your skin causing severe injuries.  Beware of trailing leads causing trip hazards if using a power socket in the kitchen.  Turn off water supply  Turn off power supply and unplug ensuring hands are dry first  Squeeze trigger to release excess water pressure in unit.  Collect in hosepipe, ensuring no kinks  Drain as much water from hose and tank as possible as stagnant water can develop legionella bacteria  Collect in power cable keeping it as dry as possible  Place in storage area. This should be in a suitable location where cables and hoses will not cause trips and leaking water will not cause a slipping incident
