Hints & Tips

 Turn oven burners off when not in use.  Allow 45 minutes from lighting a cold oven before cooking. All ovens must be pre-heated before using.  If the oven is taking a long time to cook it means it needs calibrating to ensure the temp settings are correct.  Make sure burner heads sit correctly in their locations as air will penetrate the gas flow and affect cook times. The Flames will also burn yellow instead of blue  If door catch sticks, lubricate with washing up liquid.  Don’t cover the top of the range with foil as it will reflect the heat and burn out the coupling valves and affect the cooking times of the burners. ASK QUESTION TO GROUP: What must you use to remove debris and wipe out the oven and range for a daily clean? CONFIRM CORRECT ANSWER:  Detergent spray and paper towel/clean yellow cloth ASK QUESTION TO GROUP: Why must you never use foil to cover the base of the oven and the top of the range? CONFIRM CORRECT ANSWER:  It could start a fire, deflecting the heat source/microwaves back into burners  It affects the cooking time
