EXPLAIN TO THE TEAM: To avoid any accidents within the team follow the simple rules below:  NEVER PUT YOUR HAND IN THE EXIT HOPPER

 THE UNIT SHOULD NOT OPERATE UNTIL THE THROWER PLATE IS INSIDE THE FEED CHUTE, IF IT DOES THE SAFETY CUT OUT SWITCH IS BROKEN AND A P1 MAINTENANCE CALL IS REQUIRED. THE MACHINE MUST BE TAKEN OUT OF USE  THE MOTOR TAKES 3 SECONDS TO STOP ONCE THE THROWER PLATE IS REMOVED, YOU MUST CHECK THE BLADE HAS STOPPED SPINNING BEFORE REMOVING ANY STUCK / UNCUT PIECES OF VEGETABLE

 NEVER LEAVE THE MACHINE UNATTENDED WHILST IN USE

 CHECK THE THROWER PLATE IS IN GOOD CONDITION AND NOT BROKEN

 ARE ALL BLADES SECURELY PLACED IN THE BLADE RACK

 NEVER IMMERSE UNIT IN WATER

 TEAM MEMBERS UNDER THE AGE OF 18 ARE NOT ALLOWED TO USE THIS MACHINE

ASK QUESTION TO GROUP : What must you switch the equipment off before cleaning it? CONFIRM CORRECT ANSWER:  To ensure equipment does not start working whilst you are cleaning it ASK QUESTION TO GROUP: Where should the VPU blades be stored? CONFIRM CORRECT ANSWER:  On the rack provided ASK QUESTION TO GROUP: Why should you never wash the blades and equipment through the dishwasher? CONFIRM CORRECT ANSWER:  This may blunt the equipment ASK QUESTION TO GROUP: What should you do if the emergency cut off switch isn’t working CONFIRM CORRECT ANSWER:  Inform the Manager, call an engineer, switch machine off and do not use until a repair has been made HINTS AND TIPS  Always ensure that the blades are stored on the rack supplied, never in drawers as they are very sharp  Always make sure the white plastic thrower plate is in place except for soft fruit and tomatoes  If the machine fails to operate, check that all parts have been assembled correctly as safety overrides may have come into operation  Check regularly that the emergency cut off switch works

Conclude the training exercise by allowing the trainees to practice cleaning the VPU. Manager to ensure Dangerous Machinery Signage is in place to the side of the unit
