Canopy
Apply multi-purpose detergent to surfaces of canopy from floor level, leave for 3 minutes Remove dissolved grease with a damp cloth Remove any heavy build up with a scourer Repeat the process for all areas of the canopy until it has all been cleaned Dry with paper towel Place wet floor sign if spillages occur ASK QUESTION TO GROUP: Why is it important to clean the canopy and filters before switching on the equipment CONFIRM CORRECT ANSWER: So anyone carrying out this task doesn’t burn themselves To avoid slips and trips. ASK QUESTION TO GROUP: What could happen if there was a heavy build up of grease in the canopy extract system CONFIRM CORRECT ANSWER: A fire could start in the extract system Smoke and odour smells could go through the building and outside areas ASK QUESTION TO GROUP: How often should the canopy and filters be cleaned CONFIRM CORRECT ANSWER: Canopy weekly or more often if required Filters daily as per cleaning schedule ASK QUESTION TO GROUP: Why is it important to wear PPE, gloves, goggles etc? Conclude the training exercise by allowing the trainees to clean the walls and floors correctly. Manager should check regularly that all cleaning is up to standard and record accordingly
