THE SERVE AND POUR COFFEE MACHINE

PURPOSE OF THE TRAINING EXERCISE: To ensure that team members know how to clean the coffee machine safely

TRAINING AIDS:  Company approved sanitiser, manual pot wash detergent and coffee machine de-scaler  Disposable clean green cloth, paper roll, tea towel

TRAINING METHOD: This is a practical training exercise. The trainer should demonstrate how to clean the pour and serve filter coffee machine to the group whilst referring to these training notes.

ASK QUESTION TO GROUP: Why is it important to clean and descale your coffee machine on a regular basis? CONFIRM CORRECT ANSWER:  For great tasting coffee  Extends the life of your machine  It’s a legal requirement

Cleaning the filter coffee machine

EXPLAIN TO THE TEAM:

It is recommended that you clean your coffee machine, filter pan and jugs daily to your machine in tip top condition ensuring you sell great tasting coffee.

 Fill the water reservoir with a solution of cold water and sanitiser

 Run the coffee machine as usual

 Allow to stand for 10 minutes

 Run the coffee machine again using cold water

 Let the machine cool, then run a full pot of cold, clear water – this may take 2 runs to remove solution  Wash the filter basket and the decanter/s in hot soapy manual pot wash detergent then polish with a tea towel  Wipe the outside of the machine with a clean damp cloth and sanitiser – leave for one minute then polish with paper roll

Do not leave the machine unattended whilst cleaning, ensure all team members are aware cleaning is in progress- put a label on the machine if necessary.
