ESPRESSO COFFEE MACHINE

PURPOSE OF THE TRAINING EXERCISE: To ensure the team members know the importance of cleaning the Espresso Coffee Machine TRAINING AIDS:  Espresso machine cleaning powder and cleaning brush  Company approved sanitiser, manual pot wash detergent and descaler  Clean disposable green Cloth, paper roll  Handle fitted with blank filter TRAINING METHOD: This is a practical training exercise. The trainer should demonstrate how to clean the Espresso Coffee Machine correctly and safely.

Cleaning the Espresso coffee machine EXPLAIN TO THE TEAM:

It is recommended that you clean your coffee machine, group handles and milk steam wands on a regular basis at least once per week or more often if you brew many cups per day, this will keep your machine in tip top condition ensuring you sell great tasting coffee. 1. Use manual button, flush both group heads for 15 seconds 2. Place a blank filter into a group handle and flush for 15 seconds 3. Place ¼ teaspoon of espresso cleaning powder into blank filter and insert group handle 4. Flush for 15 seconds 5. Empty used espresso cleaning powder 6. Replace group handle into group head and press manual button 7. Gently move group handle side to side for 15 seconds 8. Flush group head a further 4 times without group handle in place to ensure all cleaning powder is removed 9. Remove blank filter 10. Take espresso head cleaning brush and clean outer ring of coffee group 11. Repeat stages 3, 4 & 5 for each group 12. Spray sanitiser onto a Clean folded Green Cloth and ensure both steam wands are wiped and free from milk CAUTION: STEAM ARM MAY BE HOT – rinse and replace cloths regularly. 13. Clean each of the group handles and filters in hot soapy manual pot wash water, ensuring all coffee stains are removed with scouring pad 14. Replace clean group handles back into machine 15. Wash stainless steel drip trays in hot soapy manual pot wash detergent water , dry and replace 16. Ensure all surfaces including the top of the machine are wiped with a clean cloth and dried
