PURPOSE STATEMENT FOR NATIONAL CERTIFICATION The Case Management Society of Australia and New Zealand and Affiliates (CMSA) is committed to advancing the profession, profile and practice of contemporary case management and recognises that the National Certification of case management practitioners and professionals is the next step in professional recognition and development for the many individuals who are employed within the specialist area of case management in roles (practical, managerial or theoretical) within academia, health, insurance, education, research, welfare, social and human service settings and private practice within Australia and New Zealand. Certification encourages accountability and ensures consumer protection is a case manager and/or agencies highest concern. It underscores a case managers ability to work effectively in today’s multidisciplinary team environment and is important for reassuring consumers, employers and funding bodies that the practitioner has met a nationally recognised standard of practice and has the necessary skills, qualifications, knowledge and experience to perform this specialist role. It is the reverential belief of the CMSA that through the attainment of a nationally recognised minimum practice standard by all practitioners and agencies, and a mandated compliance with the National Standards and National Code of Ethics for Case Management, this will provide a preface for fundamental changes within the profession, thus increasing the quality of the case management services and outcomes for the consumer and/or their representative, throughout Austarlia and New Zealand. COMPLIANCE WITH THE NATIONAL STANDARDS AND NATIONAL CODE OF ETHICS FOR CASE MANAGEMENT All Certified Case Managers™ agree to commit to read, understand, utilise and apply the CMSA National Standard of Practice for Case Management (3rd Revised Edition, 2013) and National Code of Ethics for Case Management (2nd Edition, 2013) within all of their day-to-day professional interactions with their colleagues, the community, consumers and/or representatives, key stakeholders and their employer..
