MEETING MINUTES

I. Welcome and Introductions The Expert Review Panel Chair, Dana Krueger of Krueger Food Laboratories and Jonathan Goodwin (AOAC Interim Executive Director) welcomed the Expert Review Panel members, initiated introductions, and discussed with the panel the goal of the meeting. II. Review of AOAC Volunteer Policies & Expert Review Panel Process Overview and Guidelines Deborah McKenzie presented a brief overview of AOAC Volunteer Policies, Volunteer Acceptance Agreement and Expert Review Panel Policies and Procedures which included Volunteer Conflicts of Interest, Policy on the Use of the Association, Name, Initials, Identifying Insignia, Letterhead, and Business Cards, Antitrust Policy Statement and Guidelines, and the Volunteer Acceptance Form (VAF). All members of the ERP were required to submit and sign the Volunteer Acceptance Form. In addition, she also presented an overview of the ERP process including meeting logistics, consensus, First Action to Final Action requirements, and documentation. III. Review of Methods The Expert Review Panel Chair, Dana Krueger discussed the methods to be reviewed and the ERP members presented a review and discussed the proposed modification of AOAC Official Method 932.14: Solids in Syrups [Final Action]. The method author, Sam Khoury of Cott Corporation, located at 1011 10 th Avenue, Columbus, Georgia 31901 USA, was present during the meeting and presented a brief presentation of the method. 1 By consensus, the ERP presented the following motions for OMA 932.14 and OMA 988.06. 2 MOTION: (OMA 932.14) Motion by Joseph; Second by Virmani, to revise SECTION D. OF OMA 932.14: • D. By Means of U-Tube Oscillation – Digital Density Meter Method (Applicable for solutions containing sucrose, liquid sugar products containing invert sugar, other nonsucrose solids and liquids containing no undissolved solids). Determine Brix from specific gravity as measured by AOAC 988.06 using AOAC 942.33 – Degrees Brix, specific gravity, and degrees Baume of sugar solutions (Plato Table). Consensus demonstrated by: (Unanimous) in favor, 0 opposed, and 0 abstentions. Motion Passed. MOTION: (OMA 932.14) Motion by Cook; Second by Bhandari, to consider the following items for OMA 932.14 to be considered for AOAC Final Action status consideration as follows: 1) Refer to OMA 988.06 as AOAC Final Action Official Methods Status. Consensus demonstrated by: (Unanimous) in favor, 0 opposed, and 0 abstentions. Motion Passed. MOTION: (OMA 988.06) To move OMA 988.06 as a matrix modification (Minor) with the following revisions: Include section for applicability: • The method is applicable for the determination of Specific Gravity of Beer and Wort and fruit juices. Joseph, Cook (Unanimous) • FRIENDLY AMENDMENT:

Motion by Cook; Second by Bhandari, stated that the method is applicable for the determination of Specific Gravity of Beer, Wort and non pulpy fruit juice beverages. Consensus demonstrated by: (Unanimous) in favor, 0 opposed, and 0 abstentions. Motion Passed
