Freight on Bus and Ferry

CTC operates under regulatory restrictions on what can be trans- ported on the buses and the ferry—and these rules are not always the same. We understand this causes confusion for our passengers and have posted on the ferry and on all the buses what the restrictions are. You can also find a chart of the restrictions on the News and Infor- mation page and Freight page of our website. In addition to the regu- latory restrictions, the Town of Yarmouth re- stricts commercial deliv- eries to the Cousins Island wharf to 7:00 AM to 12:15 PM on non- holiday weekdays. Only non-dual wheeled vehi- cles may make deliver- ies. Finally, CTC must re- strict certain freight due to the volume of person- al freight we transport during summer week- ends. CTC will prohibit trans- portation of machines with engines (mower, moped, etc.), lumber, building materials, ap- pliances, and furniture beginning on the 12:15 PM ferry on Friday through the 7:15 PM ferry on Sunday from May through Septem- ber. At other times, transportation is at the discretion of the bus driver and captain.

Update on the Independence The tentative launch date for the Independence is June 21st at 2 PM. CTC will be holding a launch ceremony with christening at Washburn & Doughty. Enjoy refreshments as we celebrate our new ferry! All are invited to the event. CTC will provide bus rides to and from the boatyard. If you are interested in riding the bus, please sign up on the ferry. If you can’t sign up in per- son, call the office to be added to the list. After launch the Independence must undergo a number of sea trials and tests—so she won’t be coming home for a few weeks. If you would like to become a member simply notify the office and provide name, address, and the $40 member- ship fee per person. Our annual mem- ber meeting will be held on Saturday July 20st at 9 AM at the Island Hall. The agenda items typically include a review of prior year financial per- formance, election of directors, and a President‘s report providing an up- date on major ac- tivities and pro- jects.
