MSA Club News

Shirley Bog Trail Busters (SBTB) held our first club meeting of the season in September and elected our new slate of officers. After 15 years of leadership, our past officers felt it was time for retirement, and “new blood” was wel comed. The club is very pleased to announce the new officers: 2025-2026 SBTB OFFICERS President: Jeremy Hargreaves Vice President: Marc Costantine Trail Master: Derek Heady Treasurer: Dennis Paine Secretary: Hannah Pratt Director: Charlie Baker (& Past President) Alternate Director: Stephen Gross Club Reporter: Denise Gross We are all still in the preparation stages for the new season. Our big John Deere groomer underwent a complete rebuild of the slide sys tem and replacement of both drive sprockets. Many thanks to Hutch Gagne for his many hours of labor on this project. He has been our Trail Master for several years and generously donates his time for all maintenance of equip ment as well as trail work over many years. We will miss his help and smiling face over the winter as he heads to Florida this upcom ing season. September offers opportunities for clubs to apply for state grants related to rehab, recon struction and similar snowmobile projects. The time frame is quick, however our newly elected President and V.P. are diligently work ing on the application process for a replace ment of the Greg Young bridge with a much wider bridge. This would enable our large groomer to travel over the bridge and groom our bypass trail all the way east to ITS 85 con necting north to Greenville and points south. If granted, it will still be a lengthy process to get the project completed, but well worth the wait! Our club Expedition sled/groomer is ready to go, with many thanks to Moosehead Motor sports who serviced the sled as well as pro vided off-season storage again this year. The Farmers’ Almanac is predicting a cold and snow-filled winter for Maine. Cold snaps and a lot of snow in the middle of January and February is expected this season. Winter may start a bit early with cold temperatures and stormy conditions potentially starting in late November or early December. So, hunker down, get your snowmobile ready and prepare for a good old-fashioned cold winter. And continue to do those snow dances!

We will be sending in our officer update form this month. This is a must do for ALL clubs, as it provides the MSA office with the most updated contact information as the sea son gets underway. I would be remiss in my duties by not say ing this AGAIN and AGAIN ----In your day to-day travels as you encounter your friends and neighbors that have snowmobile trails that cross their land and properties, please take a minute or two and say THANK-YOU for allowing us to enjoy the winter sport that we love so much. I think that’s all for this time -see you out on the trails, be safe...THANK-YOU. BARRY E. RYAN VICE -PRESIDENT G.L.R.S.C. Our next supper is Thanksgiving Day, we do that meal, free to the public, Quadcounty SC usually cooks 12 Turkeys and the fixings to feed about 175 peo ple. We do our breakfasts, year-round first and third Saturdays, 7-10.
