years of experience, caring and compassion to the school. When she moved to the island in 1999 she started working at the Island Commons where she has worked on and off for over 20 years. It was this work experience, she said, that gives her insight into state regulations and safe food practices. Her love of kids and the island make her the perfect fit for the job. Polly’s family history on Chebeague goes back four generations. Her first visit to the island was when she was two months old and she stayed with her grandmother, Ann Knight, at her cottage on Carter’s Point Road. Kevin drives the island school bus in the winter and runs the water taxi in the summer and the twins start this year over at Yarmouth Middle School. Polly says she’s looking forward to being part of a team to help raise the island’s children and to teach the kids healthy eating practices, composting, recycling and life skills. She’s excited for the school year and can’t wait to start cooking and serving “Love on a plate”!

Polly accepted the position of School Dietary and Facilities Manager in March of last year and helped organize and set up the new school kitchen. She served the students lunches and successfully completed two pizza Fridays before summer vacation started so she’s heading into this school year with confidence. Polly brings
