Spring is in the air, the days are getting longer, it’s time to get out into the garden Now is a good time to prep your vegetable and herb garden beds ready to plant the new season vegetables. Edible Garden To Do: *Pot up mixed herbs in containers thyme, oregano, sage and rosemary live happily together. *Fertilise citrus , slow release food such as Glyco by Neutrog. Pull back any mulch, spread fertiliser, water and replace mulch. *Plant Potato tubers , Asparagus crowns and Rhubarb Bulbs now. * Prune Passionfruit and give a feed of Fruit & Citrus Fertiliser. Jobs to do : * Pick up Frangapani leaves to reduce the risk of rust spreading. * Feed Orchids with an orchid food after flowering finishes and place in a shady position. What Pests toWatchout for: Mealy bugs on your indoor plants, mealy bugs love the warm humid conditions that are created in winter with heating so keep an eye out and if required apply a Neem oil .

Whats New at BHG : We have almost completed our renovations , we have extended our cafe and have made it sealed proof with all weather blinds. We have knocked out inside garden beds to make room for a Bonsai section and to make extra room for our indoor plants and indoor pots. We are now running free workshops on the first Thursday of the month @ 10am contact store or follow us on face book for workshop details. Tuesdays are Senior Citzens day show your seniors card to receive 10% off plants or buy a $2.50 coffee in the garden cafe. Join our Loyalty club to receive 5% off your purchases, ask our friendly staff how to join. A new tomato is coming to BHG called Nonna’s Italian Tomato and in cherry tomatoes a Tom Green Gremlin arriving in store September.
