Be Who You are and Keep to it - a retrospective exhibition by Karel Zelenko 14 Jun - 25 Sep, International Centre of Graphic Arts The exhibition features more than 100 art prints as well as paintings, illustrations and ceramics by the notable Slovenian artist Karel Zelenko. Born in 1925, Zelenko is one of the last living artists of his generation, who has been working as a freelance artist consistently throughout his lifetime. His artistic vision has never conformed to current events and changes in art at home or abroad, remaining faithful to his authentic artistic themes and visual language to this very day. He remains surrounded by his world of figure and landscape, which he still uses to fulfil his artistic mission today. Open: 10:00 - 18:00. Closed: Mondays Save the Bees 21 May - 25 Sep, Ljubljana Castle The Save the Bees exhibition explores the rich tradition of beekeeping in Slovenian-inhabited lands and examines the importance of bees for ensuring the Earth’s biodiversity. exhibition presents beekeeping as a traditional activity related in many ways to the Slovenian way of life. Slovenian beekeepers are credited with domesticating the indigenous Carniolan honey bee, which is now the second most widespread bee subspecies in the world. Bee products such as honey, beeswax, royal jelly, bee pollen, propolis, and bee venom play an important role in traditional Slovenian cuisine and handicrafts, but they are also used in modern medicine. In the process of conserving bees, Slovenia, due to its Held during Ljubljana’s year as the European Green Capital, the

biodiversity and high level of public awareness of the issue, continues to be a ‘green oasis’ for bees and is internationally renowned as a country of excellent beekeepers. Nikola Tesla - A Man of the Future 11 Apr - 6 Nov, Cankarjev dom cultural and congress centre Nikola Tesla was an ingenious scientist, engineer, and inventor dedicated to discovering natural laws and principles. He received his education in Europe, but he spent most of his career in the USA, where he developed a large number of his inventions. He took out a total of about three hundred patents in the fields of electrical and mechanical engineering. Genesis is the third long-term series on global issues by world-renowned photographer Sebastião Salgado

(born Brazil, 1944), following Workers (1993) and Migrations

(2000). The result of an eight-year worldwide survey, the exhibition draws together 245 spectacular black and white photographs of wildlife, landscapes, seascapes, and indigenous peoples - raising public awareness about the pressing issues and climate change. Tuesdays at 12:00 and Saturdays at 19:00: The Salt of the Earth (France, 2014), a documentary movie screening in the City Museum of Ljubljana Saturdays at 16:30 guided tours of the exhibition in the English language with the tour starting at: City Museum of Ljubljana, included in the entry fee.
