SECURITY

Fred Corvo - Director of Security

October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (NCSAM), a collaborative effort headed by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and the National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA). The goal is to raise awareness about the importance of cybersecurity and to ensure all Americans have the resources they need to be safer and more secure online. Protect yourself and your personal information by following these tips: Cyber Security Awareness Month

Tip #1: Double your login protection. Enable multi-factor authentication to ensure that the only person who has access to your account is you. Tip #2: Shake up your password protocol. • Use the longest password permissible. • Get creative and customize your password for different sites. • Using different passwords for different sites can prevent criminals from gaining access to multiple accounts. Tip #3: If you are connected, you must be protected. • Make sure your devices are updated with the latest security software. • Sign up for automatic updates. • Protect your devices with anti-virus software. For more tips, please visit the Department of Homeland Security’s National Cybersecurity Awareness Month website at: https://www.dhs.gov/national-cyber-security- awareness-month

Pickleball Tips

As most of us move from the “banging” game to the “soft” game, here are a few tips that will help you make the transition easier: 1) After the ball is served, the receiving player should try and hit a deep return and then join their partner at the kitchen line. 2) Since the serving team has to let the ball bounce before they can strike the ball, the only way to join the opposition at the kitchen line is to develop a consistent “third shot drop.”: This can be achieved by: - Having a firm grip on the paddle, - Using the pendulum motion to move the paddle, stepping into the shot, - Making contact with the ball while it’s out in front of you, - Putting an arc on the ball (but not too high) and following through. • The further the ball needs to travel, the longer the follow thru. And then of course you and your partner getting to the kitchen line and the dinking begins! • Remember to “respect the net!” I’d rather see a ball hit too high than go into the net.

REAL ID compliant licenses and ID cards have a star in the upper right corner.

The clock is ticking! Starting October 1, 2020, every U.S. resident must present a REAL ID driver license or state ID card to board commercial flights or enter federal buildings. Do you have a REAL ID driver license or state ID card? If your credential is missing a star in the upper right corner, you are not REAL ID compliant.
