Verano Life Guide 2018

PGA Village A Golfer’s Paradise

Named “One of the 72 Best Golf Resorts” by Golf Digest , PGAGolf Club offers 54 holes of championship golf, professional golf instruction at the PGACenter for Golf Learning and Performance, and access to a new PGAClubhouse, which celebrates the history of PGA golf. Next door, PGA Village Verano is the only new home community sharing an affiliation with this esteemed destination, providing residents with social memberships along with an opportunity for golf cart access to the courses and clubhouse. PGA Village’s newly renovated clubhouse, designed by TomHochDesign, is more than double the size of the original clubhouse that opened in 1996. It represents a new era for PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie. Special significance was given to the PGA Gallery, which houses major championship trophies and PGA artifacts, including the original Wanamaker Trophy, the prize for winning the PGAChampionship. The new contemporary clubhouse offers several venues where PGA Golf Club members and their guests can relax. The Taplow Pub features a wide variety of delicious menu offerings, along with

leading-edge audio and video equipment and 15 televisions. The intimate Captains’ Room is a wine room that pays tribute to Ryder Cup captains. The Nineteen-Sixteen Bar & Grill overlooks the 18th hole of the Wanamaker Course, and the Wanamaker Pavilion is a private outdoor spot with a view of the course. The new clubhouse also features a boardroom, expanded locker rooms and a modern golf shop. PGA Village general manager Jimmy Terry said, “We now have a 21st century centerpiece to accompany our championship golf courses that will serve as a point of pride for our members and golfers from around the world to enjoy.” New challenges await golfers each day on the greens. The Tom Fazio–designed Ryder Course is set against rolling hills and is known for its water hazards. Fazio also designed the Wanamaker Course, which is reminiscent of Old Florida, as it meanders among saw palmetto, palms and wetlands. Designed by Pete Dye, the links-style Dye Course has the feel of the British Isles, with roughs and bunkers. There are also a PGA Short Course and the Country Club Course.
