If anyone is going to graduate this year with the grace of God, it will be Brianne Blum - Campus Minister Extraordinaire. Just gloss over her heavenly credentials: Liturgical Ministers' Retreat Planner for three years, coordinator of the lectors at Founders Chapel, Coordinator and committee member of the Tijuana House-Building Project, instructor for the Workplace Literacy Corps... the list strectches to the sky. But beyond all that, Brianne is a strong-spirited individual, whose congiously unselfish energies imbue all those around her with enogh will to get through just one more tough day. As a fresman, Brianne found the open doors of Campus Ministry. "The people I met were accepting and honest. A large part of why I have stayed invloved for four years is that a faith community is important to me.... I see myself as a seed, planted in the trich soil of USD. Iwas fed and watered by my experiences and the people aronud me. In May, I will have bloomed and will be thrown into a new environment to meet new challenges and struggles. Most importantly, I have learned to appreciate life."

Challenges...Opportunities to grow.. .These are just some lessons that have been conferred upon Chad Stewart, MIDN 1/CUSMCRduringhisfouryearsinUSD'sNROTCprogram. Butinreturn,theprogramhasgainedhisactiveparticipationandcontinued dedication, earnig him the respect and trust of his collegues and superiors. This semester, Chad is the Physical Training Instructor for the Unit Semp r Fi Society. In this billet, he is responsible for the physical preparationof traineesforOfficerCandidateSchool. Amongotherhonors, Chadwasselected tobe theMidshipmenBattalionCommander fortheUSD/SDSUunitinthefallof1993,placinghiminchargeofa139-personbattalion. "Ihavebeenplacedinsituationslneverenvisioned, but I feel that I will be a much better Marine and a more capable member of society," Chad says. He credits his success to the "many fine leaders I had to emulate," and in turn has continually tried to "serve as a rolemodel for those younger than I, and provide themwithstrong, sound leadership." 150 Senior Spotlight
