Alcala Yearbook 1993-1994

A.S.A. Asian Students Association (A.S.A.) has been on the USD campus since the late 1980s. It started with a band of USD Asian students wishing to establish an organization primarily made up of Asians. A.S.A. is composed of Vietnamese, Chinese, Korean, Filipino, Japa– nese, and other types of Asian backgrounds. A.S.A. first started out as a small group, but over the years it has been growing in size and activity. In the past few years A.S.A. has been active in the political, community, and social spectrums. Throughout the years, A.S.A. has participated in Asian student conferences, Asian ethnic food sales, presented dances at the University Centre, taken part in various sorts of community services, etc. Even though A.S.A. membership has been predominantly Filipino, the organization welcomes all people ofdiffer– ent nationalities and backgrounds. As of the present and the up and coming future, A.S.A. hopes to become a strong voice and name at the University of San Diego campus as well as off-campus.
