The USD Women's Soccer team entered it's second year of NCAA. division I status. The team kicked off pre-seson August 19th with a returning crew from 1992 and several new players, all who would be key to the season's success. Although young, the Lady Toreros were a solid mix of new blood and returning strength. Keeper Danielle Lopez, along with returning players Karymn Clark, Amie McMullin, and Denise Timmermans were a firm defensive foundation upon which to add. Further returning players to offense included senior Molly Sullivan, sophomores AlyParker (pictured on the left),Mindy Campbell, Corrie Bergeron and Dawn Birdsall. Added to the team were three transfers, Kristen Campbell (UCSB) sophomore Annmarie Snorsky (Univ. of Portland) and junior Kerry Gimstad. The final group of girls to complete the 1993-94 roster were eight freshman. Joining the line-up showing great power, speed, skill and determination were defensive players Michelle Bush and Elli Jolms; midfielders Dana Blackwood and Monica Costello; offensive strikers Jill DiMonico and Michelle (Hat– trick) Kennedy, and goalie Allison Worden. Head coach Tony da Luz focused on conditioning, mental under– standing of the game, and precise technical instruction.
