IMPORTANT PRE-DEPARTURE NOTES – PLEASE READ Insurance

Many people get ‘travel cover insurance’ free along with their credit card or bank account. However this may only give you very restricted ‘travel accident cover’, which may not, for example cover routine illness, or an accident that occurs whilst not actually travelling on public transport that was paid for using the card concerned. You should read your card’s terms and conditions very carefully, and remember that, as in most things, ‘you get what you pay for’. The benefit of having peace of mind whilst travelling in somewhere like Africa is well worth the cost of obtaining a proper comprehensive travel cover policy. Please do be aware that it is a condition of booking that you are insured for the full value of your trip with a policy that covers medical repatriation. We are not legally able to sell insurance however many of our European clients use TAGIS (tel 0845 345 3456) or Campbell Irvine (020 7937 6981). Flights to and from Africa Please make sure that you check-in online as soon as the check-in opens (usually 24 hours before departure) for both your outward and return flight. If you require an internal flight to connect with your return flight please ask the hotel that you are staying in the night before to check that the timing of the flight has not changed. Passports and visas It is your responsibility to ensure that you obtain the appropriate visas before departure. This information is correct at the time of printing and it is subject to change. All countries require that your passport is valid for at least 6 months from the date of departure from Africa, and has at least 2 consecutive blank pages per country to be visited. Rwanda A 30-day tourist visa can be obtained on arrival for $30 per person. Credit cards are not accepted at all land border crossings.
