Wrap-Up & Adjournment

The landscape for passing school tax issues is changing. Thanks to a perfect storm of converging political and economic realities, how we structure, deliver and pay for education in our public schools has reached a tipping point. While many things will be in flux as we move forward, one thing, however, is certain. The need to pass school tax issues is not going away. As the financial watering hole continues to dry up, we’ll have no choice but to turn to our local taxpayers for help. This workshop focuses on how to harness the power of public engagement to build a clear and compelling case for maintaining local support for our schools.

Tuesday, February 18 Mark Williams from PASS (Partner Alliance for Safer Schools) will speak about security man- agement as a core responsibility of schools administrators, who face daily pressure to ensure that students and staff are protected, often without significant security expertise or the benefit of full-time safety/security staff. When it comes to security, school administrators are faced with two difficult questions: Firstly, what do we do, and secondly, how do we prioritize? The PASS Guidelines and Checklist identify and classify best practices for securing K12 facilities in response to the urgent needs identified by the educational community.

Wednesday, February 19

Join Mark Barden who will share how his personal tragedy has become his life’s work as the co-founder and managing director of Sandy Hook Promise.

There will be 28 individual learning sessions targeting issues of leadership, finances, facilities, and the law, and an expo with vendors sharing their services and products. Breakfasts, lunch and a reception are all included.
