The American colonists lived in the 13 colonies.

The colonies belonged to King George III. He said the colonists had to pay taxes.

3 The colonists were mad. They wanted to vote on the taxes. King George III said, “NO”!

The king sent a ship with boxes of tea to Boston Harbor. The colonists said, “We will not pay taxes on tea.”

The colonists had a plan. They dressed like Native Americans. They wanted to be Americans not British colonists.

They went to Boston Harbor. They went onboard the tea ship.

They threw boxes of tea in the harbor! They called it the Boston Tea Party.

King George III was mad! He sent British soldiers to Boston Harbor. The colonists did not like that.
