The archetype of a log hut, in which, as the depths of subconscious recalls, everybody was happy, lives in every Rus- sian soul. Probably, that is the reason why customers are so eager for the reproduction of the cherished hut again and again; they do not even think that those techniques are out of date. In the result, an architect has to associate the archa- ic building with modernity. In this particular case, the author has managed to find methods which helped him to resolve structural and technical problems, and, at the same time, enabled to create a new imagery of the house. First of all, it is referred to boarding designed to warm the building. It was interpreted as a new cover partially concealing the facades of the house. The resulting relief has made the building severe and mythological, and the framed fragments of the log wall have revealed the beauty of the house. Various details work for supporting this character – simple wide architraves, wooden walkways made of transverse boards and, especially, the graphite black color, due to which the estate is called “the black farm”.
