department determines that a request for reasonable accommodation will be denied, a written response must be provided to the employee. The responsible official must explain why the requested accommodation has been denied. The decision must be written in plain language and clearly state the specific reason(s) for the denial. Denial is appropriate if the requested accommodation would result in undue hardship to the City. Before reaching this determination, the Reasonable Accommodation Committee and the employee’s department must have explored if other effective accommodations exist that would not impose undue hardship on the City and would not incur a safety hazard for the employee, other employees of the City, or residents. Where the denial also includes an offer to make a different accommodation from what was initially requested and/or agreed to during the communication process, the written response will explain both the reasons for the denial and why the chosen accommodation would be more effective and would result in less undue hardship. C. Reconsideration - An individual with a disability, or a religious belief, practice, or observance, or a third party on their behalf, can ask the P&C Director to reconsider the reasonable accommodation decision. An individual must request reconsideration within ten (10) calendar days of receiving the decision notification. 6.6 Any supervisor or manager who believes that an individual no longer requires a reasonable accommodation must contact the P&C Employee Success Partner for their department.
