Seasonal Temporary (A3) - Typically, these positions are filled on a full time basis (40 hours per week, but may be less) for a defined period of time ranging from two to eight months per year. Positions are filled from year to year on the same seasonal basis but are vacant during the off season. An employee in one of these positions may return if rehired for subsequent seasons. These designations were originally published in 1986 when the first true position control system (the backbone of all employee related information systems today) was instituted. In a few instances, the intended use or nature of these position types has changed over time and is incorporated into the definitions. B enefit-Eligible is not an officially designated position type in the payroll-personnel system but is a generally used definition for many benefits, leave and other City policies. Benefit-Eligible is used in conjunction with full time and part-time employees who are eligible for coverage and participation in the City’s benefit programs in addition to legally mandated coverage. 1. Full Time (A1) - Positions where an employee works on a continuous basis, in a set role, on a year round basis, with a regularly recurring work schedule (normally averaging 40 hours per week). Employees receive a salary, full inclusion in the City’s compensation system and 100% of applicable benefits. Budgets for these positions are calculated based on the value of the position or the employee’s salary, and benefit selections. 2. Continuous Part Time (A2) - Positions where employees work on a continuous basis, in a set role, on a year round basis, with a regularly recurring work schedule. The schedule may not be less than 20 hours per week and may not be more than 30 hours per week. Employees receive salary, full inclusion in the compensation system, plus 50% of applicable benefits. Employees in this group may opt out of non-mandated benefits in which the employee shares the cost. Budgets for these positions are calculated based on the value of the position or the employee’s salary and benefit selections.
