Horace Mann can help you learn how to implement crowdfunding best practices like these in your schools. • Crowdfunding guidance and which sites to trust • Financial accountability • Controls over materials and supplies • Safety and privacy Public schools have long used donations to enrich students’ academic experience and fund materials that budgets cannot always afford. Crowdfunding is becoming a viable funding source, filling resource gaps and providing strategic acceleration for academic programs. However, because the practice may be misunderstood, it may result in unexpected liabilities without the proper partners and safeguards in place. Crowdfunding best practices for K-12 public schools

The Power of Reading on Leadership The benefits of reading are limitless. However, the one thing that is not for many of today’s leaders is time. Yet there are so many powerful leadership lessons we can learn through reading. Jim Mahoney, Educator in Residence, Buckeye Association of School Administrators, Executive in Residence, Ohio University, Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs, and Founder of RedBrick Hill, has written ‘book notes’ for years, parsing out pertinent pieces of information for thousands of leaders. His notes were never intended to replace reading a book, but to provide a flavor for why you should. Whether it’s applying proven research points or offering a story to introduce a new idea, Jim has taken key points from his readings to offer an engaging workshop, Read to Lead, for today’s education, business, or public sector leader. The ideas come from books he has read, practices he has used in his 40-year career of public service and successfully leading a national not-for-profit, combined with stories, analogies, and applications. Throughout this 3-hour, interactive workshop, you will laugh and be entertained, engage with others from different industries, and leave energized to improve your leadership practice—individually and with groups. READ TO LEAD: A NEW LEADERSHIP WORKSHOP INSPIRED BY THE POWER OF READING WHAT YOU ’LL LEARN : 1. Practice using four evidence-based leadership behaviors that can transform your effectiveness and impact 2. How to create moments of excellence to motivate staff to higher levels of performance 3. How to use your strengths to increase engagement, happiness, and performance 4. Gain valuable leadership perspectives and examples from the diverse group of attendees and walk away with materials you can use.
