SUMMARY Chemist (Technology-Based Expert) in the Nutrient Analysis Branch [NAB, formerly known as Atlanta Center for Nutrient Analysis (ACNA)] of Southeast Food and Feed Laboratory (SFFL). A board-certified toxicologist with diverse experiences and expertise in chemistry, toxicology, and regulatory sciences. Joined the Agency as a FDA Commissioner’s Fellow in 2010.

AOAC International and its Sothern Section (SS AOAC), currently serving as one of Executive Committee-at-large Korean-American Scientists and Engineers Association (KSEA) and its Georgia Chapter (KSEA-GA) Society of Toxicology (SOT) and Korean Toxicologists Association in America (KTAA), SIG of SOT [served as a Secretary/Treasurer, 2007 ~ 2009] PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE May 2016 – Present : Chemist (Technology-based expert, GS-1320) and Oct. 2011 – Apr 2016 : Resident Researcher (Official title: Staff Fellow, AD-0415, GS-13 equivalent) of NAB (Supervisor: Mr. Edwin C. Phifer, the Director of NAB), Atlanta, GA. o Representation of NAB in the international and national meetings and conferences, hosted by FDA and/or other professional scientific organizations. o Project management and coordination of research efforts: led several method development/validation studies and other Proficiency Testing exercises (HAMQAP, DSQAP, API, etc). For example, LC-MS/MS methods for the analysis of fat-soluble vitamins, water soluble vitamins, sugars and polyols (sugar alcohols), natural sweeteners (steviol glycosides), omega-3 and related fatty acids, protein content determinations among others in diverse types of FDA regulated foods, including infant formulas, nutritional/dietary supplements, pet foods and animal feeds and other foods. Characterization of edible oils (e.g., olive oils), milk-fats (ghee) and honey samples pertaining to the adulteration.
