NYCOMED AMERSHAM / STERLING WINTHROP; Wayne, PA 1998 - 1999 Research Associate 1994 - 1996 Senior Research Scientist 1996 - 1998 Principal Research Scientist 1992 - 1994 Research Scientist • Perform the preformulation and formulation development of generic and ethical pharmaceuticals as oral, parenteral and topical cream products. • Compound formulations for efficacy, toxicology and stability studies by cGLP and cGMP regulations from bench-top to pilot scale in Class 100-10,000 manufacturing environment. • Create and validate analytical methods for characterization of the active pharmaceutical ingredient, degradants, and excipients as raw materials and finished product. • Perform technical transfer of analytical and manufacturing technology to production. • Perform research and development of medical devices. • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation for regulatory submissions. • Define the chemical and physical characteristics of formulations or devices. • Perform product-package compatibility studies. • Conduct research and discovery of novel oral controlled release formulations. • Develop formulations and lyophilization cycle parameters for parenteral products. • Department liaison for drug discovery development. ANALYTICAL INSTRUMENTATION & TECHNIQUES • RP-HPLC, NP-HPLC, SE-HPLC, IE-HPLC (Agilent, Waters, Dionex) equipped with UV-Vis, fluorescence, evaporative light scattering, and refractive index detectors. • ESI-LC/MS (Agilent, Waters) • Capillary Electrophoresis (Waters, Agilent, Spectronics) • Protein Sequencer (Applied Biosystems, Beckman), Amino Acid Analyzer (Beckman) • Gel electrophoresis: SDS-PAGE, Northern, Southern blotting techniques • Zeta Potential (Coulter, Malvern), Circular Dichroism (Jasco), FTIR (Perkin Elmer) • Particle Sizer (Malvern, Nicomp, Brookhaven, Coulter), Rheometer (Bohlin), viscometer • GC/MS (Finnegan, Agilent) with magnetic sector, ei, ci or ion trap. • GC (Agilent, Perkin-Elmer) with packed and capillary columns equipped with flame ionization, nitrogen-phosphorus, thermal conductivity, and electron capture detectors. • Dissolution, DSC, TGA, lyophilizer EDUCATION
