I have performed the method development and subsequent validations of the labeling sugars and oligofructans in a variety of food matrices and feel my research and experiences can assist others interested in these topics. ‐‐‐ John Szpylka, Mérieux NutriSciences Co‐Chaired Sugar and Fructan WG for SPSFAM. Have long experience in testing for all nutrients for labeling purposes. Have also long activity in antioxidants area including author of only AOAC total antioxidant method. ‐‐‐ Nancy Thiex, Thiex Laboratory Solutions LLC I am currently serving as a co‐chair for the AOAC SPSFAM Sugar Working Group. In addition, I served on the AAFCO Carbohydrate Task Force (prior to the AOAC effort), working with both industry stakeholders and state feed regulators to identify a path forward to allow carbohydrate guarantees on animal and pet food product labels. ‐‐‐ Tomasz Tuzimski, Medical University of Lublin (Poland) I gained experience during experimental work in the laboratory, during courses, writing doctorate reviews, 300 reviews of manuscripts, and editing books. I cooperated with the Department of Food Analysis, Department of Food and Nutrition, Department of Pharmacognosy with Medicinal Plant Unit Medical University of Lublin. ‐‐‐ Martine van Gool, FrieslandCampina Since 2015 I have worked as Analytical Researcher at FrieslandCampina. In this capacity I lead projects and bring in my analytical expertise to help the development of new ingredients for the dairy market. In this role, I develop and execute analyses on (complex) carbohydrates and proteins (including hydrolysates) as part of the R&D projects. Since September 2016 I participate in the AOAC SPIFAN Nutrients ERP to review methods that are submitted for GOS and FOS. I have a PhD degree in Food Chemistry (Wageningen University, The Netherlands) and have experience with different analytical techniques such as UHPLC‐MS, MALDI‐TOF MS, and various types of HPLC.
