48 ST EDWARD’S CHRONICLE

PEOPLE At the end of the academic year, we say goodbye and good luck to Ollie Richards, who leaves to become Head of Science at Cokethorpe after eight years as HM of Apsley; to Matt Parker, to become Assistant Head (Co-Curricular and Outreach) at RGS Worcester, after six years as HM of Sing’s; to Matthew Rigby, to teach Physics at Magdalen College School; to Ashley Currie, to become a Housemaster at St John’s, Leatherhead; to Nick Permain, to teach Art at Harrow; to Natalie McDaid, to teach Chemistry at Cheltenham College; and to Alistair Marjot, to explore other career directions and opportunities. In internal changes, Eve Singfield steps down as HM of Corfe at the end of the academic year to concentrate on her role of Director of Sport; and Jamie Davies became Head of Hockey at the start of the year. At the start of last term, we welcomed David Caro, from Stonyhurst College, to teach Spanish. In personal news, many congratulations to Catherine Cole and Ben on the arrival of Lucie Philippa on 29th November; and to David del Strother and Camille on the arrival of Joseph Edward Raphaël on 13th March. Finally, it is with great sadness that we announce the death of Keith Shindler, who joined St Edward’s for two terms as a Graduate Assistant in 1997 and stayed for 18 years. He taught Geography, was a Tutor and an Assistant HM in Kendall, and helped with numerous extra-curricular activities including swimming, scuba- diving, fencing and rugby. Keith went on to play a huge role in the development of DofE and CCF activities at Teddies and he will be remembered by many for the famous Shell trips to Snowdonia which he pioneered with his colleague and future wife, Jo. Many members of staff attended his Memorial Service at Pangbourne College earlier this month. A full obituary by Rosie Wink OSE will appear in the 2019 issue of Rhubarb .
