Matt Hawkins enters his fourth and final campaign where he will be counted on to anchor the offensive line at center ... is one of three returning starters from the 1997 squad where he saw most of his action at the guard position ... had his most consistent summer of strength & conditioning training in 1998 -- improved his squat by 50 pounds (415) during summer; increased 46% in three years ... in 1996 he started at both guard positions and even played some at center ... from Orange, California, Matt prepped at Servite College Preparatory ... in his senior year the football team went 11-4, won the Goldenwest League title and were CIF runner-ups for Division 5 schools ... he lettered both his junior and senior campaigns, also earning the Angelus Award his senior year ... his brother Jon played football at Claremont McKenna, while his brother Tom played baseball at the University of .North Carolina ... enjoys fishing as a hobby.
