Students can complete a minor or certificate in Substance Abuse Counselor. The minor is 21 semester hours. For students who are not seeking certification from the Commonwealth of Virginia, the BC certificate can be completed in 21 semester hours. Students seeking Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) certification from the Virginia Board of Counseling will complete 27 semester hours of coursework at Bluefield College. Six hours in internships will be completed to meet state requirements.
