The DAN Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) program was created to assist dive operators and professionals to identify and mitigate risks associated with managing a dive business. This program is an adaptation of well-established HIRA practices used in aviation, medicine, manufacturing and other fields, and is used by OSHA, FEMA and community-safety services worldwide. DAN has adapted the program to address the real-world concerns of dive operators, and it is already in use in DAN’s Europe and Southern Africa regions. WE SUPPORT YOU . HAZARD IDENTIFICATION AND RISK ASSESSMENT

DAN’S THREE-TIERED HIRA PROGRAM n HIRA Level 1 requires a dive operator or professional to have the fundamental training and equipment to manage injuries, and operating procedures in place to address emergencies. This assessment is completed online. n HIRA Level 2 requires further training, as well as the implementation and drilling of additional procedures and emergency action plans. This level also applies to dive operators and professionals and is completed online. n HIRA Level 3 is the full assessment and nearly every facet of the business and operations are addressed. This level applies only to dive businesses and can be conducted on site where requested.
