Kern Medical Emergency Preparedness

USRP EMERGENCY DISASTER PURPOSE Providing for the safety of patients, visitors, employees, staff, and other occupants of the building in a natural disaster situation is the primary goal. Save lives, limit casualties, limit damage, and restore normalcy as soon as possible. Respond to disaster by organizing all available resources to be deployed in the most efficient It is the policy of Kern Medical to provide guidelines for hospital personnel to follow during a Unit Specific Response Plan (USRP) natural disaster and to have an organized and effective response to a natural disaster within Kern Medical occupied buildings. Employees are to cooperate and extend their services to prevent and minimize and repair damage and injuries resulting from disasters affecting KMH. All departments are to participate in the USRP NATURAL DISASTERS  EARTHQUAKE  DAMAGING WINDS  STORMS  FIRES  FLOODS  PUBLIC HEALTH EMERGENCIES MAN MADE EMERGENCIES  TRANSPORTATION ACCIDENT  STRUCTURAL COLLAPSE  CIVIL DISTRUBANCE  WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION (WMD)  INDUSTRIAL ACCIDENT UNIT SPECIFIC RESPONSE PLAN (USRP)  The Unit Specific Response Plan is designed to quickly gather information regarding the following o Department operation functionality o Staff location, including physicians, students and volunteers o Available beds, equipment, and supplies  USRP Associate Duties o Know your department unit leader for your shift o When the USRP is activated, contact your unit leader for direction o Return to work unless otherwise directed to by your leader  Unit Leader manner.
