E-biking and hiking tour

Engelberg of fers plenty of ac tiv ities for those who want to test their met tle – such as the si x v ia ferratas, a ll equipped with iron footholds and pegs, steel cables and clips, that of fer var y ing degrees of dif f icu lty for climbers. Climbing equipment, stout footwear (trekking or hiking shoes), sure footing, a good head for heights, and remember- ing to take responsibility for one’s own safety are the prerequisites for a successf u l climbing tour. For the bold and fearless, the Fisherman’s Friend Strongman Run is taking place for the second time on 7 June (see the ar ticle in the Events sec tion). Those looking to f lex their muscles will get the chance at this year’s tug-of-war tournament on 19 Ju ly, where the beginner’s round is open to a ll. Those who aspire to gain the title of Mountainman or Mountainwoman 2014 shou ld be at the star ting line for the de- manding Mountainman mara- thon f rom Trübsee v ia Hasliberg to Mount Pilatus on 16 August. Slightly less ambitious mountaineers who still want to reach the top shou ld sign up for the Titlis Mountain Trophy event on 23 August, where par ticipants will hike f rom Engelberg to the summit of the Gross Titlis.

This is the mot to for the 2014 leisure programme f rom 7 Ju ly to 19 Oc tober that Engelberg-Titlis Tourismus has put together for its guests. Guest card holders can sign up for any of the ac tiv ities on the programme to par ticipate f ree of charge. Experience Engelberg in a ll its variety with exper t guidance! Please note that cableway tickets are not included with any of the of fers. Get a high-speed kick as you whizz down f rom Gerschnia lp to Engelberg on a Trot ti bike, or on the 600-metre toboggan run at Ristis. Spor t enthusiasts can head to the rope park, the climbing ha ll, or Trübsee for a f un day out, or get the whole family together for the Family Olympics, team spor ts or pony rides. For something a lit tle more relax ing (but no less exciting), guests can en- joy f ishing, baking and handicraf ts or a discover y tour of the v illage. The programme for September includes exciting e-bike and v ia ferrata tours. For nature lovers there is a hike with wild life watching or an excur- sion to the nor th face of the Titlis. Explore Engelberg and its surroundings with a combination of inv igorating hiking and ef for tless biking on our elec trica lly assisted e- bikes. The bikes are available to hire f rom four specia list and spor ts shops. The choice of routes include the Stäuber Spass Tour, where you set of f on your e-bikes f rom Engel- berg, cycle a long the River Aa to the Fürena lp va lley station, and continue on to Stäfeli. Here you dismount, cameras at the ready, to cross Usser Äbnet on foot and reach the imposing Spannor t peaks before returning to the e-bikes. The sunny side of Engelberg can a lso be enjoyed to the f u ll- est by e-bike. This route takes you f rom Engelberg to Ristis v ia the Schwand and then on to Rigid- a lstafel. The tour then involves a hike to the Rugghubel SAC mountain hut, accompanied by breathtaking v iews of the Titlis. On the Gerschni Tour you star t out at the foot of the Titlis and cycle a long a tarmac road through shady woods to Gerschnia lp, where you dis- mount and continue on foot to Trüb- see. Then it ’s back on the bikes for the return journey – either v ia Gerschni or Unter trübsee back to Engelberg.
