EC Meeting Papers July 2018

All present engaged in the discussions fully and have gone back into their own Unions to share the Win:win opportunities wider, however there were several Unions who were not represented at the meeting and additional work will be done to ensure that all Unions can take full advantage of the opportunities available. This update to the GFTU EC will hopefully help bridge some of the gaps in understanding. People were aware of the opportunities for mutual support provided by; • The GFTU ‘family’ and Democratic structures i.e. Executive committee, F&GP, Educational Trust etc. • Specialist Officers Network meetings (General Secretary’s, Education officers, Finance, Health and Safety, HR, ICT.) • GFTU’s staff (with responsibilities for finance, education, office functioning). • Quorn Grange Hotel. And the recent appointment of Jayne Pacey to a Union Support Worker role will provide additional opportunities, initially Jayne will be working one day a week for the Social Workers Union, but the appointment provides additional opportunities on an assignment by assignment or contracted commitment basis as we go forwards.
