Last year, the Appleton United varsity Boys’Hockey team won state, and this year they are looking to do it again. When asked about how the previous season went, senior New leaders emerge to help team bond and stay focused on state By Maddie Clark

Connor Zilisch said, “I felt that last year went really well. It was awesome to be able to be a part of the first state title in Appleton United Boys’ Hockey organization history.” Last year was the first time the team won state. The biggest change the team will have to face this upcoming season is the new players coming in, filling the roles of the previous seniors and teaching the new players the mentality of the team, Zilisch said. Senior Matt Gruber also commented about some changes in their performance this upcoming year. “We lost two games we should not have lost so hopefully we don’t have any losses this year.”

for another state run, win the Conference title, while having fun doing it.” The idea of having fun and bonding with their team will be one of the main ideas of the upcoming season in order to get to Madison for state

this year. Zilisch said, “Last year our team was extremely close, we bonded so well, which I thought contributed to our success, so one thing we plan on continuing this upcoming year it would be the comradery.”
