Keyboarding Formative Assessment

It is recommended that all teachers conduct at least one formative keyboarding assessment

during the year to guide instruction, practice, and feedback. This formative

assessment should be conducted following the same protocol that is used for the summative assessment: The keyboarding assessment will measure speed, accuracy, and technique. Use the Typing Club program to determine speed and accuracy. A 30-second timed writing in Typing Club should be used. While students are testing, evaluate and record each student's keyboarding technique using the Keyboarding Technique Checklist. Keyboarding Formative Assessment Date It is recommended that the formative keyboarding assessment be administered in January, allowing plenty of time for improvement before the spring summative assessment.
