Wow - What a change of events! We went from a mild winter with only a few snow coverings and cold days to a pandemic that stopped everything. Throw in murder hornets & the arrival of the 17 year cicadas you have pandemonium! I don’t know about you, but masks, social distancing, quarantining and canceling all major events is driving me stir crazy! During this uncharted time, we want you to know our crews, both in the heating service and convenience stores, have been busy safely, promptly serving our customers. I am very proud of our team of essential workers and how they have embraced the challenges of new procedures to operate safely & remained so committed to our customers. We are also certainly grateful to our customers for your patience and grace during this interesting, ever evolving time in history. Being an essential worker during the COVID-19 pandemic meant potentially exposing themselves and their families to COVID-19 while performing their jobs. OUR HEATING OFFICE TEAMS TOOK A BREAK FROM THE DAILY GRIND TO HAVE FUN TOGETHER LAST OCTOBER. ONE OF OUR FAVORITE SELECTED ACTIVITIES WAS ENJOYING A THRILLING RIDE THROUGH THE TREES WITH BUFFALO MOUNTAIN ZIPLINE IN FLOYD, VA.

MORE ON BUFFALO MOUNTAIN ZIPLINES www.buffalomountainziplines.com After building ziplines in China, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Peru, Scotland, Wales, Mexico, and more remote locations, Robert & Joanna Nickell decided on a beautiful piece of land in Floyd, Va. to develop their latest zipline. At the end of June 2019, with a picture perfect view of Buffalo Mountain as the backdrop, they opened Buffalo Mountain Ziplines - the biggest zipline park in Virginia.

This family owned & operated business opened with the desire to be a positive part of the community. Since opening, Buffalo Mountain Ziplines has created employment opportunities for local citizens as well as an additional outdoor recreation amenity to enjoy. The establishment of their business has brought visitors from outside the area to help boost the economy in Floyd County and neighboring counties. They have created clever partnerships with area organizations to cross promote.

UNCERTAIN TIMES & UNCERTAIN WEATHER GENERATORS ARE FOR CERTAIN

An automatic standby generator is a backup electrical system that operates whether you are home or away. Within seconds of an outage, it automatically supplies power directly to your home’s electrical circuit breaker box. After utility power returns, the generator shuts itself off and waits for the next outage. It operates on propane, gas or diesel and remains outside just like a central air conditioning unit. These power disruptions are considered a nuisance; yet for many, they cause lifestyle and economic hardships. Depending on your needs and budget, many options exist that can help prepare your home for future power outages.

You don’t miss it until it’s gone. That’s certainly true of electricity. We take for granted that it will be there at a flip of a switch, but sometimes that doesn’t happen. In an area that’s seen its share of both short and extended power outages, both in the summer and winter months, you can skip the inconveniences and economic hardships by investing in a generator. A DISAGREEABLE ODOR IS ADDED TO PROPANE SO THAT YOU WILL BE ABLE TO DETECT THE SMELL EASILY IN CASE A LEAK DEVELOPS.

IF YOU THINK YOU SMELL PROPANE... 1. Extinguish all smoking material and any other open flames or sources of ignition. 2. Get everyone out of the building. 3. Turn off the gas using th shut-off valve on th tank. 4. Call Clark Gas & Oil or 911 from a neighbors home. 5. Stay outside and leave the gas off until the leak has been fixed. DO NOT... 1. Turn light switches, appliances or thermostats on or off, and do not use the telephone (this includes your cell phone). A spark from one of these could ignite the gas. 2. Light or try to re-light any appliances. Leave this job to Clark Gas & Oil. 3. Re-enter the building, until the problem has been corrected.

Propane Safety is Our Number One Priority! Although propane is one of the safest ways to provide energy to your home or business, you must observe some safety precautions: 1. Never store or use propane gas cylinders larger than one pound for heaters, stoves, dryers, or other appli- ances, inside your house or garage. 2. Never leave propane gas cylinders in your car’s cargo or passenger area on a hot day. 3. Never use a generator in an unventilated area. 4. If you smell propane, leave the area immediately. Do Not cut on/off any lights Do Not use the phone in th area (including cell phones) DO CALL 911 for help from outside the home.

ASK AN EXPERT: Q: I’ve noticed that after a delivery, my propane tank is never filled all the way. Why not? A: The propane in your tank is a liquid, which changes to gas before it leaves the tank. But like all liquids, it will expand when its temperature rises. To make sure there’s room for propane to safely expand, we typically fill tanks to about 80%. So a 500 gallon tank that’s 80% full will safely hold about 400 gallons of propane. Keep in mind the amount of propane in your tank doesn’t change when it expands and contracts, but its density does.

Receiving a large fuel bill at the same time your property taxes are due or it’s time for Christmas shopping, is not ideal for anyone. We offer our Level Pay Plan to give our customers the ease and comfort of knowing what their monthly fuel cost will be by spreading their annual fuel costs over twelve months. Enjoy the consistency of paying one even payment each month. If you sign up for E-Pay, you enjoy a 3% credit on all monthly payments applied on your 12th month. When you sign up for Level Pay Plan, we will average your last twelve months of fuel costs and estimate your monthly payment amount. If you are new to Clark Gas & Oil, we will estimate your future usage based on the appliances that you have in your home or business. We keep an eye on our Level Pay customer accounts in case you have changes in your life that result in an energy change and adjust your payment amount accordingly.
