Chebeague United Methodist Church News

Contact us at chebeagueislandumc@gmail.com or at 207.846.6987 www.chebeagueumc.org Thank You! — A huge thank you to the many hands that make our life together at the church possible. Thank you to community members helping us with our Chedemption week and the behind the scenes volunteers who sewed our Vacation Bible School costumes and decorated our space. We’re grateful for the people who teach and serve as models for our kids in Sunday School (and those who gave us an extra set of hands on Sundays this summer!), who help lead us in worship by reading or singing in the choir, and who serve on one (or more!) of our committees. Thank you to those who run our sound system, who keep us up to date on technology, and those who remind us of our roots. Thank you to those who support us financially and those who give of their time and energy. There are many gifts we celebrate among us—thank you for being a part of our church family! We want to stay in touch with you!— Join our e-mail newsletter and stay up to date on your community church during the year. Email us at chebeagueislandumc@gmail.com or visit our website..

Food Pantry!— As you are preparing to leave the island and close up your seasonal home, please remember the food pantry! Donations of non-perishable items and household supplies are accepted in the back room of the Parish House. Unopened perishable goods can be left in the Parish House refrigerator; please leave a note in the fridge (include the date items were left in the fridge). Frozen items can be left in our freezer in the back room. Again, please leave a note indicating the date items were left. Thank you for your support in eliminating food insecurity on Chebeague!

Blessing of the Backpacks— Join us for worship on Sunday September 2 as we bless our kids before they head off into a new school year. Kids are invited to bring their backpacks, and we’ll pray together for their teachers and fellow students and for their success in the coming year. Come support our kids as they head back to school!

Youth Choir!— Our youth choir’s second season begins on Sunday September 23 at 11:15 a.m. (following worship). Kids ages 8 through 12 are welcome to sing; the choir sings in worship twice a month. Kids will learn the basics of singing through a combination of games, songs, and exercises, and they’ll explore how to connect with God in their everyday lives, all in the context of a fun, lively community! No audition or prior experience is required, and if you have questions, just email Ben at ben.yosuadavis@gmail.com .
