Notes from the Council

It is a terrible cliché but it seems so true, the summer really has flown by! All the island nonprofits worked hard to provide a wonderful variety of entertainment from ice cream to cruises, and lots and lots of wonderful music! Thank you one and all for putting it all on and supporting the island community with your attendance, your purchases, and your enthusiasm. We are having a record-setting number of returnable bottles and cans arriving at Chedemption. Returnables are being shipped off twice a week (which is the maximum per Casco Bay Lines), and it is still not enough to handle the influx. In case you are wondering about all those bags stacked up at the

Chedemption shack, there is a limit on the number of boxes and bags Casco Bay Lines will take and we exceed that limit several times over every single week. Thank you to all the volunteers who have been doing the bagging and boxing and to Ann Thaxter and her baggettes for hauling it all to Chandlers twice a week. And thank you to all the Casco Bay Lines deckhands who load and unload it all for free! The Council is pleased to welcome Kristen Dyer Buxbaum, Tammy Hoidel, and Deborah Bowman to the Board. We have a lot going on this year, and they all bring a wide variety of skills, experience, and expertise.

The Wellness Center with Paula Favreau, RN, Is Open for Blood Draws, Blood Pressure Checks, PT/INR Testing, Medication Setup, Flu Shots, Dressing Changes, Suture Removal, Wellness Checks, and Health Information No appointment needed. No charge for these services. Tuesday September 4 & 18 9:00 to 11:30 a.m.

The Foot Doctor The Foot Doctor, Dr. Rybka, is coming to Chebeague on Wednesday, October 3 from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. Call 829-6463 for an appointment. Walk-ins are also welcome.
