Many of these festivals take place at historic sites such as castles, palaces or gardens. The great classics are the focus of many festivals. The theatre festival of Mérida (Extremadura) is held in a remarkable Roman theatre which is part of the archaeological ensemble of Mérida, on the UNESCO World Heritage list. The Classical Theatre Festival of Almagro in Castile-La Mancha, held since 1978 in the streets and monuments of the city, has an excellent reputation.
