UNIWA Visits SMWC
A community partner for Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, and your home away from home for the next few days, is Indiana State University, home of the Sycamores. Established in 1865, originally known as Indiana State Normal School, awarding the first bachelor’s degree in 1908. It transitioned into Indiana State Teachers College but later dropped Teachers after the first doctoral program was implemented in 1865. Larry Bird, NBA Boston Celtic star athlete, played for ISU from 1976-1979 with career scoring records. He has been recognized by the ISU Alumni Association with the Distinguished Alumnus Award and honored with a statue commemorating his impact on the game.
Student participants will be housed in one of the on-campus residence halls, along with two SMWC GAGE team members.
