contract, until this is done, and the Coriipany is nevertheless hound to con-: tinue the lighting with Gas or to afford, in such parts of the City etc. where the works necessary for this ;purpose are not finished, a lighting with oil equal in intensity to that which they are hound to afford with Gas, which is to be .managed as prescribed in the 15 § by the Company’s own people* "When the whole City etc. is lighted with Gas, then the full payment withheld is forthwith and at once to be paid. . 7: / t ; : If the Company sees the possibility before the mentioned first of Au* gust 1826 to light some parts of the City with Gas* this can be done after an agreement with the Police - Director in such districts where it might be found convenient, and in this case the Company is to be paid according to the number of oil - lamps that are supplied by the Gas - lamps r and conform­ ably to the proportion fixed in the 14 §. • i 23. r,. The Company is allowed during the continuance of this Contract, and thereafter according to § 38, to supply from their works such individuals, as may desire i t, in the districts lighted by the Company, with Gas for ligh­ ting both within and without the houses, on such terms and against such payment as the parties may agree on, subject howewer to such Police-regu­ lations as the public Interest may from time to time render necessary, or use­ ful. During the continuance of this Contract, viz in 21 years, no one, neither individual nor society, shall be allowed in the said districts to extend Gas- pipes on, beneath or above streets, lanes, roads, marketplaces, squares etc. Yet no one shall be forbidden for his' own property to establish or* cause tcf he established a Gaswork, and thence to light the same arid such piece of the street, road, or square as may belong thereto, as also, iri case the pro­ perty might be divided by a street, then across the same to extend pipes of communication, at the laying down whereof it is still to he observed, that they do not injure the Company’s pipes.' . . - - ‘• ' / ; V '^§-'24 '#1 •'■S Such actions as the Company may enter at law against individuals, whom they supply with Gas, concerning breach of the Contract made between them and the Company,, for instance when more Gas is consumed than is contracted for, shall be allowed, in order to accelerate their decision, to be pursued at the Police - court, yet under such cases are not to be understood actions respecting the payment stipulated.
