>■-r •’t:j ' T i e Company shall, according to their promise, he liable to employ, as far as possible or convenient, Bornholm’s coals in the production of the Gas) v Likewise they shall cause the lamps and every other article requisite to be manufactured in this country, whenever they can be produced here at a fair price and of a becoming quality, and Danish subjects shall always be preferred in as far as the Company shall find that they can deliver such ar­ ticles of the same price as foreigners. ’For the remaining the Company shall in every case be allowed, without any hindrance from any corporation or others, to cause every kind of work requisite for their manufactory to be executed by their own work-people, whereto nevertheless the natives are to be preferred when con­ sistent with the Company’s interest. } ( J < §. 37. At the expiration of this Contract of 21 years the Company shall be bound,, when wished for by the City, to renew it on the same terms, or at a lower price if the price of oil at that time shall be lower. the expiration of this contract and during 99 years from the beginning of it, be allowed to carry on their manufactory of Gas 8cc. and to supply with Gas from their pipes aforesaid such individuals as may desire to use it, subject however to such police, regulations as the public interest from time to time renders neces­ sary or useful, and without any monopoly or exclusive right. But after the expiration of these 99 years it shall be permitted to the City to buy from the Company their works etc. at a fair price to be fixed by four impartial persons, of whom two are to be elected by the Magistrate of Copenhagen and the other two by the Company, and to their award or that of the Umpire, whom they may ap­ point in case of difference, the parties are hereby bound to submit. §. 38. The United General Gas Company of London or their Assigns shall, after §• 39- The stamped paper requisite for this Contract, which is to be drawn up both in the Danish and the English language, as also the costs and charges of the publishing thereof in court, shall be paid the half by the City of Copenhagen, and the half by the United General Gas Company.
